Celtic Team Camps

The Canton Soccer Club has been conducting team camps since 1994, over the years team camp has taken on many different forms, we have used outside groups including the Detroit Rockers, World Class Soccer and Celtic FC from Glasgow Scotland.  Over that time the overall goal of team camp has not changed and that goal is to get our teams together early in the year and provide them with high quality training packed into a week of competition, learning, teamwork and fun.  Since taking over as the Director of Coaching for the Club Peter Alexander has divided team camp into two separate camps.

The U8 to U13 teams always have their camp the first full week in August.  This camp is run at Independence Park and is staffed with Coaches from Celtic SC.  We also feature other local professional coaches from places like the University of Michigan Men’s and Women’s teams and from BEST Soccer training.  This camp follows a strict curriculum approved by the CSC DOC and specifically designed for our Celtic Select and Premier teams.

At U14 we believe our teams and players are ready for something a little different.  With this in mind we have partnered with the Michigan Jaguars to give our U14 to U18 teams something very unique.  For this camp we hire only current college coaches to work with our players.  Each day, Monday through Friday, our players are put through a college level training session conducted by coaches from schools such as Schoolcraft College (NJCAA), Sienna Heights University (NAIA), Albion College (NCAA D3), Tiffin University (NCAA D2) and Oakland University (NCAA D1) in fact each year we have between 25 and 35 different Colleges representing every level of the college game working with our players.  We also have created a competitive atmosphere by finishing each day with a match against one of the Michigan Jaguars teams.  We believe this camp is a tremendous way for our older teams to prepare for and get a jump start on the upcoming season.

While not a primary goal of the camp, as you can imagine this also opens the door for our older players to be seen by many different college coaches in a short period of time.  So for those players interested in playing college soccer this is a tremendous opportunity for them to showcase their skills.  An important fact to remember is that an opportunity to receive a college scholarship is not the main goal of this camp, the main goal remains the same as it is for our younger teams and anything more then that is just an added benefit to our players.
